A meeting with the ‘E bene trova maggio’ association from Monghidoro (Bolognese Apennines). In this part of Italy, the Apennines divide the Tuscany region from the Emilia-Romagna region. The two associations (La Leggera and E bene venga maggio) also find themselves operating along one of the main routes that have historically linked the north and south of the peninsula. Through a workshop on the traditional dances of the Bolognese Apennines and a concert, we sought to explore the connection and pivotal function of the intangible heritage of these two contiguous areas. Placida Staro, director of the Monghidoro Mountain Culture Research Centre, is one of the leading national and international experts in anthropological, ethnomusicological and ethnochoreological studies.
