Memory of the mountain and the sea. Identity languages, spiritual voices.
The Caravan of memory and linguistic diversity, organized by the LEM-Italia Association in collaboration with the University of Teramo and numerous institutions, has traveled through central and southern Italy to meet some recognized and unrecognized linguistic minority communities and other rural realities of Italy and share with them moments of dialogue and reflection, events, research and projects.
The theme of the 2017 edition is fully connected to the objectives of the European “Réseau Tramontana” project on the collection and enhancement of the oral memory of mountain areas. By focusing on the preservation and enhancement of linguistic, historical and spiritual heritage, the Tramontana Caravan has traveled an itinerary that has brought into dialogue multiple themes: from the relationship that links language to the environment and the landscape, to the importance of communication and of intergenerational transmission, up to the right to recognition of cultural identities for the defense of the territory.
