FIELD RESEARCH PROJECT ON TRANSHUMANCE
September 5th to 9th 2024
Val Senales, Sud Tyrol (Italy) and Tyrol (Austria)
Organised by Bambun APS in collaboration with Binaural Nodar, in the context of the Creative Europe Tramontana Network project.
Gianfranco Spitilli and Luís Costa, who respectively represent Tramontana network partners Bambun APS and Binaural Nodar, have developed a sound and audiovisual recording project on the transhumance that takes place every year between the mountains of Tyrol (Austria) and South Tyrol (Italy), a centuries-old tradition linked to ancient grazing rights granted to shepherds from the Italian valleys bordering Austria.
The hundreds of sound and video documents that were collected during this research will form part of the Tramontana network’s digital archive, as well as contributing to the development of a museum complex in the town of Madonna di Senales, a project coordinated by anthropologist Gianfranco Spitilli from Bambun APS.
