The presentation of the book ‘Lettere dalla pastorizia. Scritture di pastori transumanti di Fano Adriano’, by Berardino Nisii, Gianfranco Spitilli, Roberta Tucci, published by Bambun/Centro Studi Don Nicola Jobbi in September 2024, will be held in the inner courtyard of the Regional Library “Melchiorre Dèlfico” in Teramo, from 5 p.m., in collaboration with the University of Teramo, the Department of Political Science and the HistoryLab, an interdepartmental research centre.
The book is the result of a long research work begun in previous cycles of Tramontana, aimed at analysing the shepherds’ writings, the letters they wrote to their families when they were away from home during the long autumn, winter and spring months, from September to June. The nucleus of documents considered also includes family photographs and film footage shot inside the armentaria farm in the Roman Campagna, where the sheep and shepherds moved at the end of the summer.
The presentation will be attended not only by the authors, but also by the Director of the ‘Dèlfico’ Library Dimitri Bosi, the mayor of Fano Adriano Luigi Servi, the Director of the Department of Political Science of the University of Teramo Fausta Gallo, the sociologist Rita Salvatore of the University of Teramo, Luigi Guerrieri, author and scholar of transhumance, Antonello Ricci, anthropologist of ‘Sapienza’ University of Rome, and Leonardo Riccioni’s family.
The event is organised as part of the activities of the European project Tramontana Network.
