Since the 1950s, Tuscany has been affected by an influx of migrants from the Tyrrhenian areas of southern Italy. Many families from Basilicata (formerly Lucania) have settled in the countryside, bringing with them their agro-pastoral heritage, both tangible and intangible. In the case of the “Musicanti di Bacco”, we are faced with a family who, in the Siena region around San Gimignano, continue to cultivate and practice their musical heritage of traditional Lucanian song and dance music. The initiative is therefore an opportunity to learn and document this history, as well as to listen to this musical heritage.
