“MEMORY AWAKENED”
Book presentation

August 3, 2024

San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore (IT)

Presentation of the publication ‘La memoria ridestata. Narrazioni sulla migrazione albanese a Villa Badessa’ by Silvia Pallini,  published by Bambun/Centro Studi Don Nicola Jobbi, a piece of research carried out by the LEM-Italia Association as part of the Tramontana projects (I, II, III and Viva Tramontana), which are still ongoing (Tramontana IV) in the ethnic Albanian community of Villa Badessa in Rosciano (in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo).

The presentation took place in the village of San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore, which hosted the 21st edition of the Majella EtnoFestival, a rich festival dedicated to music, dance, song, language and traditions from the local area and other regions of Italy.

The aim of the Majella EtnoFestival has always been to preserve the popular traditions of Abruzzo. The 2024 edition had an even greater and more symbolic significance, taking place as part of the Year of Roots. The Majella EtnoFestival includes a rich programme of shows and workshops that highlight not only local traditions, but also those of other cultures, encouraging intercultural dialogue and the meeting of different ethnic roots.
