MENANIMALS | sounds of humans and animals from European mountains

A sound composition created by mixing 34 audio fragments of field recordings in Portugal (Gralheira mountain range), Poland (Tatra), Romania (Transylvania), France (Pyrenees), Italy (Apennines) and Spain (Basque Country): calls, shouts, whistles, sounds, sounds of tanks and carts, of milking and filtration, of cheese and “ricotta” preparation, of lighting to boil and washing containers, of sheep, goats, lambs, dogs, geese, hens, pigs, bulls, cows, birds, grazing animals, of animal bells, of music and songs for the ritual of the ram sacrifice, in the stable, in the yards or in the pastures, in streams, in landscapes, wind, thunder, gunfire, articulate the history of places and the human-animal relationship through specific sounds in different European mountain regions.
