La leggera a.p.s. (associazione di promozione sociale) is an association for social promotion operating in Tuscany (Italy). It was founded on 31st May 2001 in the municipality of Pontassieve (Florence) and is now based in the municipality of Rufina (Florence). The aim of its members is to improve the quality of life in the area where they live and work, on the basis of the experience of ex-farmers and mountain dwellers in a piedmont and mountain area that includes Valdisieve, Mugello and the Valdarno Superiore (in the metropolitan area of Florence) and Casentino (in the province of Arezzo). The approach and working methods of la leggera are based on the recognition and respect of environmental and cultural diversity, the adoption of lifestyles in harmony with nature and other living beings, and the documentation, study and practice of oral traditions, especially singing, dance, music and theatre.
