Sound research masterclass

August 31st to September 4th, 2024

Binaural Nodar’s Luis Costa and Bambun APS’ Gianfranco Spitilli ran a sound research masterclass from August 31st to September 4th 2024 in the Alpine territory of Alto Adige, on the border between Italy and Austria, a region where transhumance is a very lively tradition.

During the five days of this project, around 1,200 soundscapes of various types were recorded and 10 specialists from various fields of knowledge took part: entomology, documentary sound, geography, electroacoustic composition, philosophy, visual arts, etc.

Some of the sound material recorded will form part of a museum to be created in the town of Madonna di Senales, as well as the digital archive of the Tramontana Netowrk project, presently co-funded by European Union’s Creative Europe programme.
